History

History

Our school’s story began in 1991 as a small space in an Upper St. Clair church. We quickly established ourselves as a unique school that was not only thoroughly preparing children for the academic rigors of their local school districts but also empowering them to be peacemakers, leaders and active citizens in their communities.

By 2001, the school outgrew the church space and moved to our current location on Vanadium Road.

In 2008 the founder of the school, Martha Feldmeier, invited Elizabeth Petruccelli to join her teaching team and when she retired in 2014, Elizabeth became the Head of School.

Our families come from Upper St. Clair, South Fayette, Mt. Lebanon, Chartiers Valley, Robinson Township and other surrounding communities. We have esteemed alumni who are often featured locally and nationally for their academic achievements, leadership initiatives and community commitments. We even had a young alumna receive a Grammy a few years ago!

The Next Chapter

Over the years, we recognized our dream of creating space surrounded by the unique beauty and serenity of Western Pennsylvania. This space is one where children learn about the natural world and delight in the outdoors. It is serene and peaceful but also conveniently located for families across the South Hills. The natural world is the ideal playground to compliment the Montessori learning philosophy. Here, we celebrate the beauty of our seasons. Child-tended flower and vegetable gardens, child-sized potting stations, small rock labyrinths, shovels and buckets for digging, and magnifying glasses for studying insects. We collect and identify leaves, plants, feathers and flowers as an extension of botany and zoology studies.
